Venue information
Fort George is a magnificent fortress built on the island of Vis by the British in 1813. Its original purpose was to repel intruders in the most savagely abrupt way possible. Closed to visitors and forgotten for many years, on an island that was kept in isolation, the fortress is a true symbol of turbulent history. Due to its location on a high promontory it provides unparalleled views of Adriatic sunsets. Since its renovation it has become a very popular venue with a rustic, bohemian feel.
Wonderful panoramic views can be enjoyed from the rooftop terrace, ideal for the welcome drinks reception. Many couples choose this terrace as the location of their magical wedding celebration. The fortress garden offers a majestic stage for a dinner reception in the shade of the many cypress and pine trees. Designed by the head chef at Fort George, the wedding menus can cater for all tastes using the best local ingredients. The food served here matches the splendour of the Mediterranean surroundings, while fusing the traditional with the contemporary.
